Royale has a tradition of creating a staff driven holiday piece each year, and for 2012, I was honored to have helped concept that piece. In short, we follow a sweet, cheery old lady, as a donation bell ringer. We witness her faith in a charitable humanity crumble, as she is overlooked among the busy sidewalk. Thus, she tries a less conventional approach at collecting donations…
The story was refined and improved upon by just about everyone involved. The charitable theme extended the story into an interactive site. Viewers could donate to Red Cross, benefiting Hurricane Sandy victims, or simply choose not to donate. Depending on that choice, Edith shows her appreciation, or disapproval… Ultimately, over $10,000 was raised through the project. So awesome.
Beyond coming up with the original concept, I helped illustrate the environments along with Anthony Madlangbayan, and helped develop the look of the main character. Her final design was perfected by Andy Lyon and Victor Hugo.
